From the very inception, Spatz has always been about performance. Every garment we bring to market has been developed with performance in mind. Much of our winter range is designed so that you can train harder for longer in adverse weather conditions. As an example, we develop race-specific base layers so that you can race in an aero suit and do not require a rain jacket (and the watts it will haemorrhage). We help you ride further, faster, regardless of the conditions. 

At Spatzwear, we have spent a lifetime in the international peloton. Our concepts are tested over thousands of miles in all conditions and are fine-tuned in Yorkshire by a 2x Olympic Champion. Our kit is worn by the Alpecin Deceuninck Professional Cycling team. It has been worn to many WorldTour victories including Grand Tour stages, The UCI World Championship, Paris-Roubaix, The Ronde van Vlaanderen and Milan San Remo.

But all this development, testing and tuning is difficult to improve upon without hard data. This is where our relationship with the Silverstone Sports Engineering Hub (wind tunnel) comes in to play.

We take advantage of the wind tunnel to capture the data to not only verify our decisions (of where to place certain panels, fabrics and seams), but also to actively develop, fine-tune and improve every garment. 

In the past, riders have said that lab / tunnel results may not reflect real world conditions, so we position ourselves so that we can utilise and benefit from both. Real world testing is real world testing but there is nowhere better than the Silverstone Sports Engineering Hub for collecting aerodynamic data. Here, we can analyse aerodynamic efficiency through a range of speeds and yaw angles to ensure that our products are tuned to be as efficient as possible at the speeds each garment will be used at.

We harness hard data and pitch this against factors such as fabric air permeability and comfort on the bike. Throughout the whole process we consider garment usability and fabric / seam resilience. Every product we design is developed not only by the very best cyclists in the world, but also by using the world's most cutting edge aerodynamic analysis.
