Worn next to your skin, the 'RACE LAYER' Long is designed with revolutionary inner textures and profiles to trap a layer of warm air and actively transport moisture away from the skin. Cyclists have needed a base layer like this for decades. Here it is...

Great base layer. Offers alot more ventilation than regular shirts but still provides warmth for colder day. Really something else
The Race Layer seems to be a practical and potentially durable base layer that does its job well. I'm impressed with the fabric's design, very creative, and it seems to work. Due to its design, the fabric has some thickness. However, the fabric has limited stretch and requires one to learn how best to put it on and remove it. The L/XL size is snug for someone who normally wears a size medium. The sleeves are long and need the cuffs to be folded back. The body is long, but that doesn't present a problem. None of these items are functional barriers that would prevent me from purchasing the product. In fact, I'm glad to have this type of product available, and see this type of product innovation. I would like to see this same garment in a lighter, white fabric version that would be used in hot weather as reverse insulation and as a sun shield. I'm concerned about Spatz' warranty, as warranty details aren't clearly spelled out and contact is restricted to a website form. Furthermore, the website's product description leaves something to be desired, and again, no live contact information is provided to help compensate for the deficiencies of the website's product descriptions, or product questions.
I worn a lot of base layers over the years and I’m very impressed with the Spatz race layer. I was out this morning first thing. 7 degrees easterly wind wearing just this and my burnr gilet. Cool for the first few miles but them warmed up nicely. You don’t need separate arm warmers with this base layer either. Lovely piece of kit.
Beware of very poor customer service if you buy the wrong size and want to exchange/return it for the correct size. I’ve waited 3 weeks from the first contact to receive an address to return the wrong size. Spatz has not replied to two follow up emails asking for a status update. The products are nice but it’s a big risk if you buy the wrong size.
great base layer, does the job in the spring and autumn changeable weather.
Seems a bit big though in comparison to my short sleeve one, but maybe that's been washed & dried into a slightly smaller size over time
